The reigning Big Bash champions have a basically unchanged lineup from last year and there’s really no signs of them slowing down in BB07.
Key Batsman – Michael Klinger
Klinger comes with a 70k price tag which I believe is valuable. He totalled 334 runs in BBL07 and I can see him having another great season.
Key Bowler – Mitch Johnson
Johnson is back for BBL07 and he’ll be the key strike weapon at the Scorchers. With the likes of Richardson, Tye and potentially Behrendorff (injury), the Scorchers bowling lineup is tough. Johnson dominated in the latter stagers of the Big Bash last season and was the only bowler with more than 1 maiden. In the semi-finals, he tore through the Stars with figures of 3-3. He is one of the most expensive bowlers as a result but he’s worth the price.
Young Star – Ashton Agar
Agar provides late order batting and a solid bowling option for Perth. His price tag is fairly cheap at 62k and I’m expecting another solid Big Bash season.
International Player – David Willey
Willey returns for the Scorchers as the only International player. He had a solid Big Bash last year, picking up 7 wickets in 5 matches. But compared to Agar, his price of 85k is high for his production.
Player to watch – Sam Whiteman
I’m looking at Whiteman for a breakout season at the Scorchers. He showed his potential in the last 2 final matches with 31 and 41. So hopefully he takes it to another level in BBL07.
Cheap Fantasy option – Adam Voges
Voges is back for another season and is super cheap at 30k. He’s such a solid contributor for the Scorchers and with the Marsh boys playing for Australia, he’ll likely get batting time.
